Thomas T.H. Chou
Senior Associate - Morrison & Foerster

Thomas Chou is a senior associate in the Corporate Practice at Morrison & Foerster. Based in Palo Alto, California, Thomas works closely with the Firm's Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong offices to represent technology businesses, venture capital investors and underwriters in connection with cross-border financings, joint ventures, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings. Thomas's recent transactions include the representation of Yahoo! Inc. in connection with its Hong Kong unit's agreement to acquire 3721 Network Software Company Limited, a Hong Kong software company, for up to US$120 million in cash over two years, subject to certain conditions, and the representation of Yahoo! Inc. in its establishment of a joint venture with Sina Corporation to provide an auctions-based ecommerce service for small-and medium-sized businesses and buyers and sellers in China.

Eric Di Benedetto
General Partner - Convergence Partners

Eric is a founder and general partner of Convergence Partners, a Silicon Valley based information technology venture capital firm with $200 million under management. In addition, Eric has been an angel investor in companies such as Collaxa, NeonYoyo (acquired by Interwoven, IWOV), Sonim Technologies (selected as 2004 Technology Pioneer by The World Economic Forum) and Visible Path. Before founding Convergence Partners, Eric was the managing director of US venture capital funds managed by BANEXI, the merchant banking arm of BNP (Banque Nationale de Paris), including a joint partnership with Robertson Stephens & Co. Prior to his venture capital career, Eric was a workout and restructuring specialist with the PARGESA/Lambert Brussels Group, and a mergers and acquisitions associate covering defense electronics for Bankers Trust. He holds an MBA degree from ESSEC, Paris, France, and a BA in mathematics and physics.

Shantanu Bhagwat

Shantanu is the business development partner (Asia) for Amadeus Capital Partners Limited. Shantanu joined the firm in 2001 but since January 2005 he has focused on supporting the efforts of Amadeus' portfolio companies doing business in Asia, while also exploring the possibilities for establishing strategic venture capital partnerships in the area. At Amadeus, Shantanu has made his mark by shepherding a number of important investments for the firm. These include Red-M, a company that offers products and solutions in wireless security, and Power Paper, which produces thin and flexible batteries known as micro-power source technology.

Previously Shantanu was a management consultant working for Monitor Company in London and earlier he developed Smith-Kline Beecham's international e-business strategy. He also worked in the Indian Foreign Service for a number of years.

Shantanu holds an MBA from the London Business School, where he was a Chevening Scholar. He received a BA in Computer Engineering from the GS Institute of Technology and Science in Indore, India.

A gifted linguist, Shantanu is fluent in Japanese, Hindi, Marathi and of course, English. He is an Indian citizen.

Jack Z. Chen

Mr. Chen joined Barrington Associates in January 2004. He serves as the Chairman of Barrington Associates Asia Pacific. His duties will include originating and managing trans-pacific merger & acquisition, corporate finance, and strategic alliance transactions.

Prior to joining Barrington Associates, Mr. Chen was President of MTC Direct Inc. MTC Direct Inc. is the world's leading independent mass storage products distributor and a VAR 500 company. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Chen co-founded and became COO of Bestone Investment Group, Ltd. Bestone acquired and controlled the largest cement company in China and the largest PVC profile manufacturer in the world. Conch Cement is now one of the largest cement manufacturers in the world and is listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with USD 4 billion market capitalization. Wuhu Conch, an affiliate of Conch Cement, is now listed in China and it is the largest PVC profile extruder in the world.

From 1993 to 1994 Mr. Chen was Chairman and CEO of Transworld Consulting Group, Inc. (TCG). TCG provided international strategic advice to leading companies in their sectors including Ford Motor Company, Group Schneider, Best Western, Inter, Public Group, Western International Media, Panda Restaurant Group, etc.

Mr. Chen also actively participates in activities that benefit the community and society at large. He has been a speaker at USC, UCLA, California State University, MIT Business Forum, China Compass Conference, ACG InterGrowth Conference, and Chambers of Commerce. He also helped publish the California Guide for Doing Business in China, commissioned by the former Lieutenant Governor of California, published "The China Watch", and established a foundation to promote education in China's poor regions. He also helped start the Asia Pacific Chapter for the Association for Corporate Growth, a 50-year old organization formed by professionals in the mergers and acquisitions business with 7,000 members worldwide. Mr. Chen is a member of its International Expansion Committee. Most recently Mr. Chen was invited to become a Charter Member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, the Western partner of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Anil K. Gupta

Anil K. Gupta is the Ralph J. Tyser Professor of Strategy and Organization, Chair of the Management & Organization Department, and a Distinguished Scholar-Teacher at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, The University of Maryland at College Park. During the calendar year 2000, he also served as a Visiting Professor in the Stanford Technology Ventures Program at Stanford University. He earned a Doctor of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management, and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Professor Gupta is a world-renowned expert in the field of strategy, globalization, and organization design. He is the co-author or co-editor of The Quest for Global Dominance (Jossey-Bass, 2001), Global Strategy and Organization (John Wiley, 2003), and Smart Globalization (Jossey-Bass, 2003).

Anil Gupta has been recognized by Business Week as an Outstanding Faculty in its Guide to the Best B-Schools. In 2000, Professor Gupta received an "Honorable Mention" in the Academy of Management Journals' Hall of Fame. He also received the campus-wide 1997-1998 Distinguished Scholar-Teacher Award from The University of Maryland at College Park. In 1997, one of his papers was recognized as "one of the ten most-often cited articles" in the entire 40-year history of the prestigious Academy of Management Journal. In 1994, he was ranked by Management International Review as one of the "Top 20 North American Superstars" for research in strategy and organization.

In addition to the above, Professor Gupta has also received other awards including the 1991 Glueck Best Paper Award in Business Policy and Strategy from the Academy of Management, the 1989 and 1998 Allen Krowe Awards for Excellence in Teaching from The University of Maryland, and the 1984 Broderick Prize for Excellence in Research from Boston University.

Professor Anil Gupta's professional interests center around "Managing in the Digital Age," "Managing Globalization," and the "Managing Intra- and Inter-Firm Alliances." He has published over 55 papers including several in major journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Executive, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Sloan Management Review, Journal of Business Strategy, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Planning, Accounting, Organizations, and Society, Business Horizons, Journal of Business Venturing, and Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research. Anil Gupta also serves or has served on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, and Journal of High Technology Management Research.

Richard G. Ling
Managing Director

Richard Ling's executive experience and passion for technology provides the Rembrandt investment team with their technical expertise. Richard's prior hands-on technical management allows him to guide Rembrandt's portfolio companies in their innovation and implementation of new technologies.

Prior to joining Rembrandt, Richard was the co-founder, President and CEO of AlterEgo Networks Inc., a wireless infrastructure company, acquired by Macromedia Inc. in March 2002.

Prior to AlterEgo, Richard led the i-Merchandising product organization at Inktomi, responsible for overseeing all areas of the group's engineering and operations, including site and network operations and product development. Prior to Inktomi, Richard was a co-founder, acting CTO and VP of Products and Engineering at Impulse Buy Networks Inc., leading the development, operations and product management groups. Impulse Buy Networks acquired by Inktomi in April 1999.

Prior to Impulse Buy, Richard founded and was CEO of Spero Inc., a company focused on creating supply-chain/distributor management systems for large-scale enterprises. Prior to Spero, Richard was a Director of International Product Marketing and Management at Novell Inc. Previously, Richard was a product line manager at Univel, acquired by Novell in 1992. Richard was a systems design engineer, strategic planning analyst and product manager for Convergent Technologies Inc.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (robotics and control/learning systems focus) from the University of California at Berkeley.

Mr. Chen attended Shanghai Jiao Tong University and earned his MBA degree in Marketing and Finance from Indiana University.

Curtis Mo
Partner, WilmerHale

Curtis Mo is the partner in charge of the Palo Alto Office and a member of the Corporate Department. He joined the firm in 2005.

Mr. Mo is recognized as a leading corporate and securities lawyer in Silicon Valley. He has represented emerging growth companies, major public companies, investment banks, venture capital funds and private equity funds in hundreds of public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, buyouts, venture capital financings and other complex transactions. He has extensive experience in corporate governance matters and regularly acts as general outside counsel to companies at all stages of development, particularly in the technology, life sciences and retail sectors. Representative clients have included Cisco Systems, Digital Island, Doubletree Hotels, E*TRADE Group, JetBlue Airways, Restoration Hardware and many top-tier investment banks and venture capital funds. Mr. Mo has lectured extensively at seminars sponsored by the Practising Law Institute and other professional groups and has given expert legal commentary on emerging growth companies and the technology sector for CNN Moneyline, CNBC Business Center and various publications. Mr. Mo is a co-chair of PLI's Annual Institute on Securities Regulation and has been a member of the Advisory Board for the Annual Securities Regulation Institute in San Diego. He serves a number of community organizations, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the influential Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network.

Mr. Mo was selected by California Law Business as one of the "top 20 lawyers in the State of California under the age of 40"

He was selected by San Jose Magazine as one of the top lawyers in Silicon Valley.
He was featured in American Lawyer as a "dealmaker of the year" for 2003.

Alnoor Shivji
General Partner, Global Asset Capital

Mr. Shivji was President of CIENA, Metro Switching Division. Prior to that, he founded Cyras Systems and served as its President and CEO until it was acquired by CIENA for $2.6 billion in March 2001. He also co-founded Fiberlane Communications, which changed the face of the networking communications industry when it split into Cerent (acquired by Cisco for $7 billion) and Siara Systems (acquired by Redback Networks for $4.3 billion). Mr. Shivji also founded OSIware, a communications software company that was sold to Infonet, a value added service provider. Mr. Shivji currently serves on the Board of Directors for ASVC Wireless, Wafergen, Zytera, One Access and is a Member of TiE.

John Tang
Senior Vice President - GIC Special Investments

John Tang is Senior Vice President at GIC Special Investments. GIC (Government of Singapore Investment Corporation) is the fund manager for the foreign reserves of Singapore, and manages in excess of $100 billion in assets. In his five years at GIC, Mr Tang has made investments in startup companies as well as venture funds. His successes include Placeware, a web conference company sold to Microsoft for US$200 million, and Spinnaker Networks, a disk storage company acquired by Network Appliance for US$300 million, both in 2003. He is currently on the boards of Clearcube Technology (leader in blade computing), Cornice (micro disk drives), Patchlink (leader in software patch management), GT Nexus (leader in global logistics software) and a director in publicly listed EasyCall (a education business in China). These companies today collectively generate more than US$100m in revenues. Mr Tang is also responsible for fund investments in US healthcare funds and US venture funds focused on technology infrastructure. He has worked with more than 20 top venture capital funds including Charles River, Norwest, Venrock and Menlo Ventures, and made more than US$200m in fund commitments. He is currently on the advisory boards of funds Domain Associates, Healthcare Ventures, Sanderling Ventures and Doll Capital. He is also currently Chairman of the Nominating Committee for the ILPA (Institutional Limited Partners Association), the largest global membership of private equity limited partners.

Prior to GIC, Mr Tang was a senior consultant at Bain & Co, a leading strategy consulting firm, where he consulted to clients in Singapore, London and Paris. He started his career at IBM as a systems engineer in what was to become IBM Global Services. Mr Tang holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BEng (First Class Hons) and MSc from Imperial College, University of London.

Jonathan Wang, Ph.D., M.B.A.
General Manager (Greater China) - Burrill & Company

Dr. Wang is General Manager (Greater China) at Burrill & Company, a leading life sciences-focused firm with over $500 million venture capital funds and a merchant banking practice, which has completed over $1.5 billion transactions. Dr. Wang leads Burrill's Greater China-related business.

Prior to Burrill, Dr. Wang worked for WI Harper Group and Walden International, both ranked among the top ten global venture capital firms in China. At WI Harper, operating in the U.S., Mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore, Dr. Wang was Managing Director, overseeing the firm's life sciences activities worldwide and leading the company's Merchant Banking Group. Prior to WI Harper, Dr. Wang worked for Walden International, a venture capital firm with $1.5 billion in funds. With another partner, he co-managed the life sciences investments as well as supervised and monitored portfolio companies among Walden's twelve offices worldwide.

Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Neurobiology from Columbia University. He has obtained the scientific training under the supervision of Dr. Eric Kandel, a Nobel Laureate. He also holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University. Dr. Wang has co-authored eight scientific publications in worldwide journals and has frequently published articles on the life sciences industry.

He has served as the Chairman of The BayHelix Group, a prestigious non-profit organization for life sciences business leaders of the Chinese origin. He is Vice Chairman of Huayuan Venture Capital Group.

Henry H. Wong
Founder - Diamond TechVentures

Henry Wong, a Serial Entrepreneur and Venture Capitalist, has resided in Silicon Valley for the last 25 years and is the founder of Diamond. Mr. Wong is also active with Crystal Ventures' portfolio companies including LGC Wireless, an intelligent wireless repeater company, Infinera, a Digital Optical Networking company and Exavio, a Video-on-Demand company.

A seasoned entrepreneur, Wong has succeeded as the founder, chairman & CEO of SS8 Networks Inc., a world class startup with major R&D operations in Beijing and Ottawa. Wong was the co-founder of IP Communications, a VoIP startup which was acquired by RampNet, now a division of Nokia. He was also the co-founder, chairman, president and CEO of XaQti Corporation, which merged with Vitesse Semiconductor, and was the co-founder of CNet Technology Inc., now a multi-million dollar public network hardware company. In 1988 he founded Combinet - which was sold to Cisco Systems in a pooling of interest stock swap valued at $165 million. In 2002, Mr. Wong was nominated, interviewed and was the finalist to receive the Ernst & Young's “Entrepreneur of the Year Award”.

In education, Mr. Wong received a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration (Major in Finance and Minor in Marketing) from University of Utah and a MBA in Telecom Management from Golden Gate University. Mr. Wong was also a Ph.D. candidate in Business Philosophy at Golden Gate University.

Benjamin Xu
Partner - Harbinger Ventures

Mr. Xu joined Harbinger Venture as Partner, after starting his VC career at Battery Ventures in Boston, and Draper Advisers in Redwood City. Prior to his venture career, Mr. Xu was Corporate Director of Strategic Planning at Exodus /Cable & Wireless. From 1992 to 1999, Mr. Xu held various senior engineering and marketing positions at Intel Corp working on 3 generations of Intel microprocessors, from i486 to Pentium II. From 1986 to 1990, Mr. Xu worked as a physicist at national research labs and universities, making two discoveries and one "first-demo" in semiconductor, superconductor, and applied optics. Mr. Xu was an early private investor into Avanex (AVNX) and Oplink (OPLK). He also led institutional investments in semiconductor (chip and EDA), fiber optics, telecom and software deals, including a service startup BDI (sold to MDCX), and an EDA startup 0-IN Design (sold to Mentor Graphics). Mr. Xu received an MBA from Harvard Business School, to supplement his MSEE and BSEE degrees.
